Direct Print Dashboard

Th Direct Print dashboard offers a concise overview of significant metrics related to your Direct Print setup and offers guidance on potential actions you can implement to enhance your print environment.

To launch the Direct Print Dashboard, simply click the Dashboard tab under the Direct screen in the web console.

The Direct Print Dashboard includes six cards:

  • Status
  • Devices
  • Volume
  • Usage
  • Location
  • Direct Printing Overview

Status

The Status card displays a summary of the following information.

  • Direct Printers - This indicates the total number of direct printers with at least one active print queue. It's worth nothing a single printer may be associated with multiple print queues.
  • Registered Users - Total number of users who have registered with Direct Print (via mobile, password / PIN, or proximity card).
  • Direct Print Queues - Total number of active (enabled) queues. To check for enabled queues, go to the Direct > Direct Printers > Print Queues tab and check the Enabled column.

Why is this important?

Knowing the number of direct printers, registered users and print queues is crucial to effectively manage your Direct Print environment.

Devices

The Devices card shows the percentage of devices with enabled queues. It also shows the number of devices with no queues or inactive queues.

Why is this important?

Knowledge of active and inactive print queues allows you to streamline printing workflows. You can eliminate unused queues, making it easier for users to select the correct destination and improving overall workflow efficiency.

Volume

The Volume card shows the percentage of volume that was produced in the Direct Print workflow in the last 30 days.

This metric is calculated as follows:

Volume = (Number of Direct Print pages / Total pages) * 100

The Volume card also shows the following information:

  • Total – Total number of pages printed from Direct Print, Pharos Secure Release, and other print types.
  • Direct Print – The total number of pages printed in the Secure Release system.
  • Secure Print – The total number of pages printed to secure printers as well as copy
  • Others - The total number pages printed on printers not integrated with the Pharos Cloud printing system. For example, print jobs sent to printers that are not part of either Secure Print or Direct Print.

Volume includes copy pages, but excludes fax and scan because they do not generate paper output.

Usage

The Usage card shows trends for how frequently Direct Print is being used in your organization on a daily basis. This metric includes information on:

  • Daily unique users – Shows the average number of unique users who print and copy documents via Direct Print daily over the past 30 days. The line graph shows the number of unique users printing Direct Print jobs over the past 30 days.
  • Daily jobs – Shows the average number of print jobs processed in the Direct Print system over the past 30 days. The line graph shows the number of secure jobs each day over the past 30 days.
  • Daily volume – Shows the average number of pages submitted to the Direct Print system daily over the past 30 days. The line graph shows the number of pages submitted each day over the past 30 days.

Why is this important?

You can use the Usage metric to understand print usage over time. If usage is low, you may need to take action to get more users on board with the Direct Print workflow.

Location

  • Location – The Location card shows information about Direct Print locations including:
    • Defined locations - The total number of locations including both parent locations and their child locations.
    • Devices with locations - The total number of Direct Print devices with defined locations.
    • Devices without locations - The total number of Direct Print devices without locations.

Why is this important?

You can use this metric to determine if location-based printing is configured for your Direct Print environment and to know how many devices have been assigned locations. Location based printing allows your organization to automatically install queues based on a user's location.
