Printers

The Printers screen displays the list of devices discovered by the Device Scout or manually imported devices. It shows print device information such as model, manufacturer, and so on. You can use this screen to quickly identify whether a device is enabled for Direct Print, for example.

The Printers screen has the following action buttons:

Move - Use this button to assign printers from Global into a location.
Create Queue - Use this button to create a print queue for the selected printer.
Devices Import- Use this button to manually import printers for use with Direct Print.
Manage Drivers - Use this button to manage Windows print drivers.

Column	Description
Printer Label	The name that is used to identify a direct printer on Chrome extension. Users can search and add direct printers by Printer Label on Chrome. This value must be unique. Note: Print Scout uses the Name of a queue to identify a printer in the Pharos Secure Release desktop app. Queue names are automatically generated based on the Printer Label (if available) or Manufacturer and Model of the printer if Printer Label is not available.
Manufacturer	The device manufacturer name.
Model	The device model.
Serial Number	A unique sequence of numbers and letters assigned to an individual piece of hardware or software for identification purposes.
IPv4 Address	The IPv4 address of the device.
IPv6 Address	The IPv6 address of the device.
Network Address	This field shows the network address that is used to communicate with the device. Pharos Cloud determines the appropriate Network Address based on available information, such as the presence of hostname or IP addresses, and the method used to obtain the information, such as Device Scout scan or device import. When a device has both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, the preferred order for connecting to a device is as follows: If a hostname is available, it takes precedence for device identification. However, it is important to have a functioning Domain Name System (DNS) to effectively use hostnames for device identification. It is not recommended to rely on hostnames if your network does not have a reliable DNS infrastructure. If a hostname is not available, it checks for the presence of an IPv4 address first, followed by an IPv6 addres. Note: If a device is scanned with an IPv6 address (where the device was added to the scan list by providing its IPv6 address, or where the device was scanned by hostname but only returned an IPv6 address), IPv6 will be the preferred address even if IPv4 address is present. Note: The Remove Network Address button (in the Discover > Device Inventory tab) allows IT administrators to remove outdated network addresses (such as hostnames or IP addresses) associated with a device. This is useful when transitioning from an IPv4 network to an IPv6-only configuration or when there is a need to clean up the system by removing outdated information.
Ipp Support	The Pharos Chome Print extension and the Print Scout component can use the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) to send print jobs to the printer.
Ipp Url	This allows you to manually enter anIpp Url value or to override the Discovered Ipp Url discovered by the Device Scout. The only time you will want to populate an Ipp Url is if the entry in the Discovered Ipp Url is not accurate. Note: If Discovered Ipp Url and ipp Url are both available, the system uses the ipp Url.
Discovered Ipp Url	The Ipp Url discovered by the Device Scout. Note: If Discovered Ipp Url and ipp Url are both available, the system uses the ipp Url.
Permission Groups	The group or groups that are allowed to use the direct printer. Note: All users can search for, add, and print to a direct printer without a Permission Group.
Department	The department where the device belongs.
Region	The region where the device is located.
Site	The site where the device is located.
Building	The building where the device is located.
Floor	The floor where the device is located.
Area	The area where the device is located.
Firmware Version	The version of the firmware installed on the device.
