Getting Print Users Started (Secure Release)
After Print Scouts are deployed to user workstations, a print user can launch the Pharos Secure Release Setup Guide from their Start menu. This wizard guides users through registering and activating Secure Release on their workstation and mobile device.
Note: Users can also launch the Pharos Secure Release Setup Guide from the email invitation they receive. The invitation contains a link to the Setup Guide. It is important that a user opens the email from the workstation on which the Print Scout is installed.
Note: For workstations running Linux, users can register to Secure Release by sending a print job to the default Secure Printer.
Language Support
The following user-facing components of Secure Release support translations.
- The Mobile App will display screens in the language set on a user's mobile device.
- The Pharos Secure Release Setup Guide will display screens in the local language set on the user's operating system.
- Secure Printers (iMFPs) running embedded software will display Secure Release screens in the language set for the device.

- Portuguese (Portugal)
- Portuguese (Brazil)
- Dutch
- Norwegian
Note: If an unsupported language is detected, the user-facing components will display in English.
How to activate Secure Release
Before print users can release jobs from secure printers, they must first activate Secure Release The following section provides instructions on how print users activate Secure Release.
Step 1: Register to Secure Release.
The way in which users register to Secure Release depends on the authentication provider set up in the Settings screen.
- Email authentication: Register email address
- OpenID Connect: Register using your OpenID Connect credentials
Note: The Active Directory authentication provider does not require user registration. This means users can submit and release print jobs at once.
Step 2: Activate Release Methods. Choose the release method that you want to set up. This sets up how you release (print) your documents. There are three ways to release your documents from a secure printer:
- Activating your mobile device for Secure Print
- Activating your proximity card
- Activating Keyboard Login
How to release documents using Secure Release
Depending on how Secure Release is configured, users can release documents using any of the following methods:
- Printer Screen Release
- Proximity Card
- Keyboard Login (For email authentication)
- Username and Password (for Active Directory authentication)
- Passcode (for OpenID authentication only)
- Touchless Printing
- SR 25
How to view or delete jobs from the user workstation
Using Pharos Secure Release desktop app installed with the Print Scout, users can view or delete jobs from their workstations before they walk up to a secure printer.
